We have joined the Slow Food movement
In the name of productivity, Fast Life has changed our way of being and
threatens our environment
and our landscape. So Slow Food is now the only truly progressive answer.
Riverside accommodation is situated in the hamlet of Hulme End in the Peak District
National Park Derbyshire. We enjoy spectacular views of Ecton Hill, and the
surrounding countryside. The River Manifold flows through our lower garden.
Here you
can fish for brown trout and grayling, or just sit back, relax and watch the
world drift by, sipping afternoon tea and soaking up the views.
Hulme End is the gateway to the
Manifold Valley which was the track of the Leek and Manifold Valley Light
Railway. At Riverside
accommodation we
have a large range of booklets about the Manifold Valley and its various walks,
please feel free
to use them at any time during your stay. They can be found in the
resident's lounge along with all local ordinance survey mapping.
The Manifold Valley which is covered in more detail on the local area pages of our site is ideally suited for cycling and flat level walking. Wheel chair users and the physically less able will also find the track affords excellent access. The track goes to Waterhouses which is 9 miles from Riverside accommodation. A wide variety of other walks start from our doorstep, with some of the best low to medium level walking in Britain. These walks range from easy to strenuous, and including some of the most picturesque walks and cycle ways in the Peak District. We can advise on walks and cycle trails - just ask. Cyclists please note, secure facilities are available to store your bikes.
For the more adventurous, the Roaches rocks are only 7 miles away, giving some of the best climbing and ridge walking in the region. We can advise on numerous local walks, cycle rides, car tours, attractions and places of interest.
